Changing our name to Scout!

You may have noticed that we are now calling ourselves Scout 😄

Yes, we have changed our name (rebranded?). But why? And why now?

Firstly, the simple explanation. Our product started life as EventScout, because it reflected where our thinking originally started – with event data. I have worked with many different saas and analytics tools to understand website visitors metrics and user behaviour over the years and I always found event data to be the most useful and versatile. I had been wanting to develop something to make it easier to take advantage of event driven architecture. My cofounder also had a lot of experience with saas products, as well as managing many different websites and projects for his own freelance clients. We’d both been using tools like Google Analytics and Plausible and to some degree found them lacking. That is how EventScout was born.

ok, so why the change.

Something we’ve been trying to validate with EventScout is how we can differentiate ourselves from competitors who offer more fully featured, mature products, with massive teams and resources. We felt that small SaaS founders were somewhat neglected since many tools are designed for such a breadth of use cases that the tools become complex and convoluted. We wanted something to help us grow our SaaS projects.

The signal and feedback we got from our earliest users has been mostly positive, but with some recurring themes:

• How does this differ from x
• How does this help me grow my SaaS

To that end we decided to bring forward some ideas on our roadmap that had been planned for a little later. That is things like:

• The ability to incorporate data from other third-party services
• Simple automations to help fill in gaps between products

Because of this, and in order to reflect a much broader scope we decided to just simplify the name to Scout and have now redirected all domains to https://usescout.io/

We hope there are no issues with the transition and we would love to hear from people with any feedback they have on how we can build the best product for SaaS founders.
